WINTER Workshop Flow
Using winter as our inspiration we will compose and improvise sounds in music and voice evoked by sounds of winter. We will have Nick Unwin as our birdsong guide. Our work will culminate in a short performance.
Friday evening (18.00-19.30)
Introductory session – with a chance to do a night-owl walk to gather sounds.
19.30 Supper at White Hart - sharing experiences to build input for tomorrow’s session
Saturday
Early bird-walk (7.30-8.30)
Workshop 1 (09.30-11.0) Sounds gathered the previous evening or the early bird morning walk will be worked into the first session. Those who have not been able to collect sounds will listen and join in by sharing and developing the material.
Break (11.00-11.30)
Workshop 2 (11.30-13.30) Building more intensively on the earlier session, bringing in musical techniques of composition an improvisation the group and smaller ensembles.
Lunch and performance planning (13.30- 15.00)
Workshop 3 (15.00-17.00) A tree & bird-song walk - observing the form and branch structure of specially chosen trees we will use these observations as musical structures for the material developed in the morning sessions together with looking at certain bird-sounds in more detail.
Planning (17.00-18.30) Defining and refining pieces for performance, including contributions and roles from those of us who may not want to perform.
EVENING 7.30 Supper in White Hart. Performance/workshare venue
